Question Of The Week

The question of the is week from Multiples and More is…..

What is your favorite children’s book?

I love “Love You Forever.”  Granted, I choose this book for sentimental reasons.  When the kids were in the NICU, I got a bag filled with goodies from Parents Partnered for Preemies.  In it was this book.  I still remember sitting at Josh’s isolette reading it to him.  At that time, he was my only baby in the step down unit.  By the end of the book, I was bawling my eyes out.

I need some more ideas for good books.  If you have any, please let me know!

I love you all.

Somber Dancing

I was watching the funeral of Senator Kennedy today while feeding the trio lunch.  The kids were interested in it just because they could see it on the computer.  If you didn’t see it, at the end of the funeral everyone sang “God Bless America” as his casket was taken to the hearse.  My kids thought that was almost as good as Sesame Street!  Josh was the first to start dancing to the music!  The girls started dancing within a couple of seconds of Josh.  It was hysterical watching them dance to “God Bless America” at a funeral.  It was almost like a durge!  I think Senator Kennedy would have laughed if he had seen it!

On a completely diiferent subject, the kids came up with a new game today!  It’s called “Pin Each Other Between The Crib And The Wall”!  They all seemed to love it when it was their turn to be be trapped by the others!  Oh I love it!

It's Evie's turn!

Herding Cats

Today Maggie had physical therapy.  She only goes once a month now.  Josh goes all of the other Thursdays of the month.  It has been a long, long time since Maggie last had her turn in the pool.  I had forgotten how easy it’s to watch Josh and Evie!

When I am watching Evie and Maggie during Josh’s PT, it is insane!  Maggie loves to run in every direction but the one I want her to run.  In fact, her favorite direction is opposite of whatever I want!  She is a wild woman!  She makes the 45 minutes Josh is in the pool an Olympic sport for me!  Raj always says keeping the kids together is like herding cats…impossible!

On the other hand, Josh and Evie both come to me when I call them, or they at least stop moving.  Josh was fantastic following my directions today!  I was stunned.  Evie is always close to me, so there was no concern there!  It was nice to not have to continually chase one kid hoping the other isn’t going to go missing in the process!

The whole point to all of that’s to say, I got some cute pictures of Josh and Evie today!  It’s a lot easier to do when you’re not herding cats….or Maggie!  I love the sweet girl to death, but she is my dare devil for sure!

I am working on editing my pictures.  We will all look back in a year or so and laugh at my first attempts!

Sometimes I Feel Bad….

Sometimes I feel bad my kids are triplets.  I love them, and I wouldn’t change a thing.  However, there are moments that make my heart ache.  For example, we went to Kindermusik today.  It was wonderful!  The kids were awesome.  However, none of them were able to experience as much as a singleton.  There is only one me. I only have one lap (big as it may be:().  I only have two hands.  I only have two hips.

There are so many things we will do each week at class.  We will be doing infant massage every week.  Today, I was able to rub two backs at once.  I am not sure how, but I will figure out how to tub three backs at once by next week.  We are also signing songs to teach them concepts such as high and low.    It is hard to lift two babies up in the air to show high.  It’s impossible to do this with three.  However, I can squat easily to show two of them low!  I may only have one lap, but if I sit just right, there is enough room for all three as we have quiet time or sing songs on the floor.

It is amazing to see their faces when it is their turn for “special” attention from Mommy.  Their smiles can light up a room.  All of their insecurities and anxieties fade away.  I love those precious moments.  I have to work very hard to make sure each child gets equal time with me.  This can be hard because at different moments, different kids needs more from me.  Quite frequently, I have two who need extra attention.  At those moments, I am jealous of twin moms.  It must be so much easier for them…..I KNOW IT’S NOT.  In my mind, it must be though.

I hope each of my kids come to understand I am doing them best I can.  I hope they all understand I am trying to make sure they don’t miss out on all of fun activities other kids get to do just because they are triplets.  I hope deep in their hearts they understand how much I love them and want them to have the world.  I hope they always know I know they are each special and unique individuals who are lucky enough to share a birthday with two other special and unique individuals.

Yes, I may only have one lap, two arms, two hips, but I have one HUGE heart that is ready and willing  to love my kids every moment of every day.  I am the luckiest Mommy in the world, and I wouldn’t change a thing….even though there are some challenging situations for a mom of triplets.

I love you all.

Exceeding The Weight Limit

Today we had a play date!  It was so much fun!  We met up with a set of 2 year old triplets who live down the road and played.  Maggie figured out how to climb into the water table while we were there.  When we got home, she proved she didn’t forget what she learned…..and she taught her brother and sister how to do it!  I smell T-R-O-U-B-L-E!!!!!

BTW, I didn’t get the camera until both girls were in the splash table.  That’s why there are no pictures of her alone!

Evie crimbed in soon after Maggie!

Not My Child! Monday

I have never joined in on this!  Here is my try…..

I definitely don’t allow any of my kids to drink my coffee or Frappuccinos….especially not Evie!

My child would NEVER have to be chased and brought back to story time once, twice, or five hundred times!  Never!

The aforementioned child would also never run off the playground every time I turned  to watch her brother or sister!  Not Maggie!

I would never have a little boy who will sit and eat wood chips happily instead of playing…..me not stop it….No way!

I would never ever lock any of my kids in my room and let them play so I can rest (in the same room)….during THEIR nap time!

I sure don’t have any kids in my house who don’t share!  In fact, I am pretty certain when Josh took the toy horse away from Evie, her wails were wails of joy getting to share with her brother!

I am not too good at this yet, but it is fun!  I will watch more closely so I can share some really funny “Not My Child!”  stories.  Mine are perfect angels, so these are hard to come up with…..If you believe that we need to talk!!!!!

I love you all.

The Great Race

jm_bw_smallI have some wonderful pictures of the kids.  However, I am going to work on them a little bit more before I post them.

This is one precious picture of Maggie and Josh “racing”!  I am pretty certain Maggie won!  Those little wild ones are FAST though.  They may have short legs, but those little legs can move!!

I love you all.

Wonderful Sleep!

Today, the kiddos took a late morning nap.  They were tired.  I actually had to wake them up for a late lunch.  However, since they were still sleeping, I was able to get two cute pictures of the girls.  Josh woke up too fast for me to get the picture of his cute bottom in the air!

As you should all know, the girls are by no means identical…..one curly hair, one straight hair, one blues, one brown eyes, etc., etc., etc…..

Look at these photos though.  You sure can tell they are related!

Just In Case You Wondered….

I am tired.  Happy, but tired.  Chasing three one years olds is HARD WORK.  I do love it though!  These kiddos have worn me out….in a good way.

Tonight I got to go out with “the girls”!  I got to have have dinner with 11 other triplet moms and 1 quad mom!  It was so much fun!  I was the mom with the youngest kids at dinner.  There were numerous other moms who have 6, 7, 8, and 9 year old triplets!  They looked great!  It was such an encouragement to see.  I am so glad there is a group here in Atlanta where I can receive such wonderful support and encouragement.

There is a mom who is pregnant with triplets who is a friend of one of my friends at work.  If you are her, and you know who I am talking about,  leave me a comment.  I lost your phone number!  I want to know how you are doing and chat!

I love you all.
