Just A Bit Of Advice

i may not have any pictures today, but I have a piece of advice. If you plan only gettingnone kid’shair cut, only take one kid. Today, we took Josh to get his hair cut. By the time we left the salon, Maggie and Evie had each had mani/pedis AND their hair cut! I had planned on spending  20, but I spent 60 instead. At least they all look cute!!!!!!

I love you all.

Fun With Cousins!

We had the opportunity to go and spend the day with my sister and her family recently.  My kids adore their cousins, Uncle Charles, and Aunt Ashley!  There seems to be a special connection between us that I just love!  Granted, I think big kids can love on the little ones in very special ways!

For example, Rebecca Anne brought out all of her Polly Pockets and let the kids play with them!  They loved it!  They are now high on my list to buy for the kids when I have some spare change.  I was never a person who liked toys with lots of little parts when I was growing up (I preferred baby dolls.), but my kids love them.  I sure do want to support that!  Plus, I know they got that awesome gene from their Daddy!

Also, Evie LOVES, LOVES, LOVES her cousin Ryan!  I don’t know what caused this attachment, but it sure is there.  Every time we asked Evie if she wanted to do something, she would ask for Ryan to come.  Even at home, she wants to call and see Ryan.   It’s precious!

Maggie’s love for the Polly Pockets blew my mind!  Plus, she actually knew what to do with them!

IMG_9527

We also got to go to the pool while we were visiting them!  I only wish  I had pictures to really show how much fun we had while we were there!  However, I had to be in the pool, so this is all I have.

Let me tell you what my wild kiddos did!  They went down the waterslide over and over again.  Actually, we had too make them stop because we were concerned they were going to fly off the side of slide.  I was glad to have so many people with us to help make sure they didn’t fall off the stairs of the slide and help catch them in the water!

My kids also love the diving board.  I got to tread water for more than 30 minutes as the kids umped off the diving board over and over and over and over and over again!  The only reason we even stopped is because Uncle Charles and Ryan had to go to Ryan’s dentist appointment.  My arms and legs were so tired at that point that I was happy.  The kids were ultra-bummed about having to stop.  I had to promise we would go back again later this summer!

After all the fun we had, Aunt Ashley took us for ice cream!  That sealed the deal for a perfect day.

My kiddos are fish!  We had so much fun!  Next year is going to be harder since they will be tall enough for the “big” rides.  I could already see them eyeing them this year.  Eeeeek!

How To Make The Best Of An Hour

I have learned how to make the best of an hour.  I gave my beloved choo-choo wagon to another triplet family.  My trio are just too big for it now.  I’ll write a good-bye post, but that will be later.

IMG_9477

So, the kids and I had one hour before meeting the other triplet family.  I was tired and grumpy.  They were being slightly high maintenance, and I had to get them out of the house.  I’m not sure if I’m the only one to feel like that, but we had to go!

IMG_9480

In a moment of panic trying to decide what to do with my little critters, I decided to take them to Peachtree-Dekalb Airport to play on the playground.  This was truly a moment of genius for me.  The kids were so, so excited to go to the playground AND see airplanes.  I felt almost like a miracle worker!!

IMG_9488

We played for exactly an hour.  They were NOT happy to leave, but I promised we would go back and play again.  Being placated by this response, we were off to pass on our wagon.

Busy (and berry picking)!

Man we have been so busy this week!  I love getting to take the kids and do special things together!  I’m so lucky to be able to be home with them most every day.  I love it!

IMG_9442

We went berry picking with some friends!  We picked blackberries and blueberries.  It was a little toasty, but not nearly as hot as I thought it would be.  The kids learned to only pick the ripe berries.  I was actually pretty impressed how quickly they figured out the plan.

IMG_9445

I will admit my kids are truly “city kids”!  Evie hated all the bugs.  Honestly, I’m not a fan of them either, but she takes the cake on that one!  Maggie was hot and proceeded to take off her shirt to cool off.  Then, sweet Josh wouldn’t leave his teddy bear in the car.  Thus, we had a dirty bear at the end of the day.

IMG_9443

Having our friends come pick berries with us helped.  All seven kids helped to entertain one another…..and keep siblings from fighting.

IMG_9450

We had a really fun picnic lunch while we were there.  Actually, the kids and our friend Wendy, had a good picnic.  Heidi and I picked blueberries while the kids were eating.  Wendy has blueberry bushes at her house and didn’t need to pick any, so she got stuck with all the kiddos.  She did actually call us when the kids were getting cranky.  I love modern conveniences Smile.

After we left the BriarPatch, we did go to the fountains at the mall.  The kids were tired and cranky, but we still had about another hour of fun before heading home.  I was thrilled to have happy and tired kids who napped great!

Happy Father’s Day!

Happy Father’s Day to the best dad in the world!  Raj is the kindest, most patient father in the world!  Our kids are so lucky to have him!  I am too!

We had a great time celebrating while eating Hibachi today after church.   Look at how far we have come!!

The Best Laid Plans…..

The best laid plans are often changed!  Or, at least in my house they’re changed.  Monday, I was exhausted beyond words.  I just couldn’t do it.  In fact, I just couldn’t do anything.  The kids were irritable.  I was cranky.  All in all, just a bad day.

We went to the gym and I exercised.  The kids were happy and well behaved in the childcare area.  Then,we went home and the fighting ensued.  I had started making lunch, and finally told the kids to go to their rooms to play hoping they would stop fighting.  It worked….sort of.

Maggie had gone upstairs to her room and gone to bed.  I went upstairs to have her come down for lunch when I realized she was sleeping.  There was no way I could wake her at that point.

IMG_9382

IMG_9377

You see where this is going right?  Josh and Evie were still awake and wanted to go to the pool.  That wasn’t possible, so I pulled out the water table.  Then, I sprayed them with the hose .  They thought it was great!  My only problem was that I hadn’t put them in their bathing suits.  Neither of them like their wet clothes, so they ended up running around in their undies.  I’m so glad we live on a street few people ride on!

They were happy.  I was tired hoping to get a nap once I put them down for their naps.

IMG_9395

That didn’t happen Sad smile .  Fifteen minutes after Josh and Evie went down, Maggie woke up.  There went my nap.  Oh well.  Maggie and I ended up having a great time together!

We blew bubbles!  We cooked dinner.  We sampled dinner.  We play with the cat.  We did tons of stuff.  I really believe Maggie just needed some special “Mommy” time.  What was funnier to me is Maggie didn’t want to wake up Evie and Josh.  She was having too much fun being an only child for the moment!

In the end, the day worked out exactly like it should have!  Plus, we went to Fernbank two days later!!!

I love you all.

What to do? What to do?

Now that vacation is over, I have to figure out what to do with the kids.  So, I’m thinking about hitting the library and then the fountains at the mall tomorrow.  If I pack lunches for me and the kids, this will be a completely free (and fun) day!

Now here’s another GORGEOUS picture of my kiddos from the beach!

Beach Vacation 2011 (part 1)

IMG_8789

At McDonald’s eating lunch…great table set up!

Ahhhh Destin!  Gotta love this place!  Actually, Okaloosa Island to be exact.  This summer, Raj and I rented a condo from another triplet mom I know for the week.  We took the kids and my mom with us, and we all had a blast!

IMG_8797

Maggie racing into the water!

The trip down went so much smoother that I could have ever expected!  The kids were great, and we got there fast!  Our condo blew me away!  It is on the first floor, walks directly out to the pool, and has a beach view.  It is decorated so cute and kid friendly!

IMG_8793

Josh exploring the ocean!

After arriving, we put the kids’ in their bathing suits and went straight to the beach.  Maggie ran straight for the water.  That child is fearless!  Josh actually warmed up to it pretty quickly too.  Evie, on the other hand, didn’t like getting “dirty” from the sand.  Oh that girlie girl.

We took the kids to The Crab Trap for dinner.  It was okay, but a bit much for the kiddos.  After dinner, we took the kids to the pier.  They loved it!  They loved seeing all the fish.  They loved looking in the ocean.  They loved it all.  The only part  they didn’t love was having to leave because of the storm that popped up.  However, they did love playing in the rain when we go back to the condo.  Oh the life of a child Smile.  It sure is good!

Playing In The Creek

I have learned that I must be spontaneous….or at least attempt it!  We had met up with some friends at a park a good ways from our house.  One of our friends ended up getting sick and having to go home less than an hour after we had arrived.  Well, I wasn’t going to let the trip go to waste.  I’d heard another parent talking about walking to the creek.  I bet you can guess what happened next!

1301941179595

We went to the creek!  It took me a while to figure out how to get down to the creek.  Once I did, the fun commenced!  I (honestly) hadn’t planned on them getting into the water.  In retrospect, that was the stupidest thing for me to think!  I thought they would be happy to put their hands in and splash.  I was wrong!

1301940821223

Before I knew it, Josh and his tennis shoes were in the water.  Once I blinked, Maggie was in the water.  Evie, the rules follower of the group, took the longest to hop in!  At first I wanted to be upset.  Then, I decided we would just have fun.  I knew I had panties and undies in the car, so I could at least take off the wet clothes and put those on.

The kids had an absolute blast playing!  I’m so glad to know I can relax and have fun even when the kids are doing something that goes against everything “civilized and acceptable” to me!  I hope I can remember the fun we had while at the creek.  We can really have more fun when making the most out of a “bummer” situation!
