Great News About Josh!

june23_1small.JPG

I just wanted to give an update on Josh!  We went to his cardiologist appointment.  He is being followed by Sibley Heart Center Cardiology and being seen by Dr. Sabino.  I absolutely LOVE Dr. Sabino.  I only wish he was a general pediatrician.  If he was, he would be the babies’ doctor.  Anywho, we got great news.  Josh’s PDA closed!!!!  This means he does not have to have surgery.  I am so happy and relieved.  He still has a small PFO.  They do not generally do anything about this.  It really is an incidental finding.  So that is the wonderful news.  Now, onto the other news we got.  Josh’s septal wall, the part that separates the two sides of the heart, is slightly thickened.  This is something they are going to watch.  It is very mild.  There is nothing surgically they would do to correct this.  So, we will watch and wait.  Josh does not have to go back to the cardiologist until he is one.  That is the other reason I am not concerned.  If it was something major, he would have to go back frequently for follow up visits.  We are so blessed our little guy is going to be just fine!!!

Now the other exciting news…..

Josh is going to have a boy cousin!!!!  Congratulations to Aunt Joy, Uncle Brett, EmmaClaire, and OletaKate on the news that Remington Samuel will be here in December!!!!  We can’t wait to welcome him into the family!!

Have a happy Fourth of July!!

I love you all.

I Am So Lucky

june27mje_3small.JPG

I am the luckiest person in the world!  Every time I look at my beautiful children , I know how lucky I am.  I never knew I could be in love with three little people so much.  Each one has such different personalities.  They each look so different…at least to me.  They make different grunts, cries, and wails.  They love to be with their mommy.  It makes me so happy.  In fact, I never knew I could be so happy.  I also never knew I could be so tired.  I am starting to understand what other moms of multiples mean by “living in a fog” for the first year.  I think I can completely function on no sleep now.  However, I got good practice as a nurse midwife going without sleep.  This is so different though.  I am in love with the babies.  I will do anything for them.  I loved my patients, but my own kids are so different.

I know I am a slightly crazy mom though.  Today, I had a doctor’s appointment.  I had to take the babies.  My appointment was at 1:00.  That is the time I am supposed to feed them.  Somehow, I was able to feed them and have my appointment.  Once I had finished there, I decided to go to the bookstore.  I needed a couple of books on vaccines and infant development.  So, because the babies were already asleep, we went to Borders.  No one really bothered me.  I only got stopped by two ladies.  One of their daughters actually used to babysit for Mike Bobo’s (the quarterback coach at the University of Georgia) triplets and other children.  I thought that was really neat.  Otherwise, I acted so interested in the books, no one bothered me.

Tomorrow is Josh’s cardiology appointment.  Please pray it goes well and his PDA has closed on it’s own.  It will definitely be an interesting appointment.  Well, I am pretty tired, so that is all for now.

Trip to Northside

Yesterday, I went to Northside to turn in my breast pump.  Yes, I am a failure.  I quit pumping the first week the babies came home from the hospital.  I just couldn’t do it all.  At least they got 5 weeks worth of breast milk.  Oh well, I digress.  I took the  babies with me yesterday.  I wanted to show them off.  I have so many wonderful friends in Labor and Delivery at the hospital.  I was so excited to go and see them!!  Since I had to take my pump back, it was the perfect time to take the babies.  It was so much fun to see everyone.  They were so amazed I was out by myself with the babies!!  However, all I did was put them in the stroller and go!!

I finally got to thank some, not all, of the people who helped me through some of the hardest and happiest times of my life.  I was so happy to get to finally say thank you.  I am working on my birth story.  You will soon see all they did for me.  It was so neat to show off three healthy, happy babies!!  In fact, it was fun to show off a healthy, happy mommy too!!!!  Here are some of the pictures I took!!

Bob was the scrub tech during my c-section.  He stayed after his shift to do my case.  It meant tons to me.  I was so much more relaxed with him there.

Kathy Sanford is my “tough love” friend.  When I was irrational, she brought me back to reality…quickly!!  I am so glad she was there to bring me back to reality.

Patty Jarvis is so wonderful.  She came to see me every time she worked.  I am so glad she was around.  She is such a dear friend to me.

Tina Vaughn took care of me after I got out of recovery from the c-section.  She also took care of me until I went to postpartum.  She was fantastic.

sandymooneyeviesmall.JPG

There are not enough wonderful words I can say about Sandy Mooney.  She is wonderful.  She helped organize my hospital baby shower.  She came in the OR and took pictures during my c-section.  She helped calm me when I was so nervous.  She is so wonderful and caring.

This does not begin to show all of the people who cared for me.  I am the luckiest woman in the world.  In my honest opinion, if you need to have a baby (or babies) in Atlanta, have them at Northside.  You will never regret this decision.

I have no idea how this became an ad for the hospital.  I just wanted to share pictures of some of my dear friends and collegues.  I had such a wonderful time seeing them!!

I love you all.

Pictures! Pictures! Pictures!

The title is a little deceptive.  I spent all afternoon with my favorite photographer in the world.  Sundra Paul, with Ananchel Photography, has done pictures for Raj and I over the years.  She did our engagement portraits, wedding portraits, my pregnancy portraits, and now she is doing our babies’ portraits for us.  Raj and I took the babies for their “newborn” pictures last week.  I had to pick out the pictures I wanted today.  I was not prepared for how difficult it was going to be.  I loved every single one of the pictures.  They turned out so well.  It really blew my mind.  I could have bought thousands of dollars of pictures.  However, I picked my six favorites.  Sundra has graciously allowed me to post a couple of them here on the blog.  As soon as I get them, they will be posted.  I can’t wait for everyone to see them.  I think I have the most beautiful children in the world (and the best photographer to boot!)!!

However, I have a couple of pictures from today that I took.  Yes, I know how they will rival Sundra’s portraits!  Mimi went and bought the babies coordinating outfits!  They are so cute!  I LOVE taking the babies out in matching clothes.  At home, I could care less!  Since I took two of the babies with me today, I dressed them all alike.  They looked so precious, I took a few pictures!  I never realized how hard it was to photograph three babies until this attempt!  Here are my futile attempts of getting them to sit up and look cute!!  I am so glad I don’t do this for a living!!  I will leave the real pictures to the professionals!

Bath Time!

I would not say giving the babies their baths is my most favorite part of the day.  However, it does give me time to spend with each individual child.  This is so important.  It is not that I don’t like doing the baths, it is just very tiring.  I love the way the babies smell and look after they are bathed.  Plus, they sleep REALLY good the night of the bath!!  I am trying to make bath time more fun for me!  I am snapping pictures of the babies as I bathe them.  This makes me smile and laugh!!  It is hard to be that coordinated though!  They are just so sweet and precious!  All of the babies have such distinct personalities, and they show them best when they are being bathed!  I love every second of it!!!  Here are some fun pictures of yesterday’s baths!!!

I Am Ready!

ginny-n-rajsmall.jpg

This is a me post.  Sorry no baby pics!  I will get them up later today or tomorrow.  I was reading on Triplet Connection about the mother of sextuplets who just ran a marathon.  Her babies were just about to turn one, ONE, when she ran her race.  She also went into heart failure after her delivery.  She RAN a marathon.  HELLO, if she can run a MARATHON, I can run a half marathon.  I “only” have triplets, and I did not have any complications after my babies were delivered.  I have no goals of running a marathon any time soon, but I long to run another half marathon.  I want my body back.  I am only ten pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight, but I am ready for the last ten to be gone.  I want my clothes to fit again.  I know my body will never be the same after triplets, but I want to get it as close to the same as I can.  I also need just a little bit of “me” time.  So, I am now training for a half marathon.  At this point I am not going to say which race, Mimi may kill me, but I am working on it.  Plus, I may change my mind about which race I run!  I am going to keep myself accountable to training by posting updates about how it is going here.  Wish me luck!!!!  I can’t wait to take a picture of me, Raj, and the babies after I run the race!  I can’t believe the picture above was only 15 months ago!!!!

I love you all.

THANK YOU Aunt Ashley

My older sister, Ashley, came and spent the night with me Monday night.  It was so wonderful.  I had hit the wall.  I was so tired.  It was the first day I felt like I was not going to survive.  Ashley came and went above and beyond for me.  She let me go to sleep at 9:30.  She and Raj did the 11:00 feeding.  At 2:00, Ashley and I fed the babies.  It went so fast.  At 5:00, Ashley and I got up to feed, but Mom showed up.  Mom and Ashley sent me right back to bed, and they did the feeding without me.  It was so nice getting some solid sleep.

Ashley did even more than feeds for me.  She stayed at home and watched the babies while I went to the store!  It was so wonderful to get out of the house for a few minutes.  I definitely have cabin fever…and it is not even RSV season!  She did laundry for me.  She did dishes for me.  She did a little bit of everything.  There is no way I can thank her enough.  Several times while she was here, I nearly cried out of gratefulness.  I really needed the help she brought to me at the moment she brought it.  I am so lucky.

I am really lucky to have such a wonderful family.  I love all of my siblings beyond words.  Not everyone is lucky enough to be able to call their siblings friends.  I am.
