Maggie’s First Physical Therapy Appointment
Today was Maggie’s first physical therapy appointment. It was such an interesting experience. I learned SO much. I think I enjoyed the appointment much more than Maggie did. Maggie had to work really hard. I don’t think she loved it. It was tough for her. She had to use lots of muscles she hasn’t normally been using. Her physical therapist is tough stuff, but also a ton of fun! It was a little tough for me to watch her cry when they made her try to sit and hold her head up. However, it is so important for Maggie to develop these motor skills that I just encouraged her through her appointment.
The physical therapist was really good at explaining the evaluation of Maggie to me. Maggie, neurologically, is developing perfectly normal. This means that the incident (as I like to call it), has had no long-term or permanent effect! However, Maggie’s time in the hospital and the feeding tube after she got home has caused some developmental delays. Maggie is actually still scoring appropriately for her adjusted age of 2.5 months. However, she is very delayed for her actual age of 4.5 months. So, this is where we have some work to do. We are trying to catch her up to her brother and sister.
We will going to physical therapy every other week for a while. As Maggie progresses, we will go less and less until we are discharged from PT. I am so glad they are being aggressive with Maggie’s treatment. They say it is easier to treat her now than try to “catch up” later. We have “homework” to do over the next two weeks. We are hoping it will help develop her back and neck muscles. We will see how she does! I have no idea what to expect over the next weeks and months. I just want Maggie to be the best she can be. I already love her (and her brother and sister) more than words will ever say!

Evie And Maggie Got Their Ears Pierced!
Today was a momentous day for Evie and Maggie. They went to the mall for the first time, and they got their ears pierced! It was a girl’s day! We left Josh at home with Daddy, and the three of us girls went to the mall! I am not sure if the girls loved it or not. I think they thoroughly enjoyed it until we got to Claire’s. We even made a stop by Gymboree and looked at clothes! The funniest part of the day was taking them in a single stroller. They didn’t seem to mind, and NO ONE noticed there were two babies! It was such a special day for us. I am so glad to have had this experience with my girls (I just love saying that!).
The ear piercing itself went well. I think all of the trauma Maggie has experienced caused her to be significantly more leery of the process than Evie. Evie could have cared less as her ears were marked. Maggie, on the other hand, got a little upset even with that part of the process. Maggie got REALLY upset when her ears were actually pierced. However, she survived and is fine now. No permanent damage done. Evie also got pretty upset with the piercing itself. However, after a little Mommy-lovin’ she was fine. Maggie wanted to be held until we got to the car! That was just fine with me. The ladies who did the piercing were wonderful. They helped to make it a pleasant experience. I have promised the girls that the next time we go to the mall it will not be painful!
I love you all.

Evie Is Rolling Over!
Well, Miss Evie has done it! She rolled over for the first time Sunday night! When I woke up to feed her, she was on her tummy! I took a picture of her on her tummy, then I went and woke Raj up to tell him the exciting news! It was so great! Every time I have put her in the crib to go to sleep on her back, I have found her on her tummy when I have come back into the room! She is the ONLY one rolling all of the time! I am so proud of my sweet girl!
I love you all!

Date Night!!
Tonight was so wonderful! Raj and I got to go out got desert and drinks! We went to this wonderful little place called Chocolatte Cafe in Suwanee’s Town Center! We loved it. I was desperate to spend a little bit of time with Raj away from the house and without the babies. Since the babies were born, really since I got admitted to the hospital, Raj and I have not gotten to spend a ton of time together without anyone else around. Tonight brought back memories of life pre-triplets. Granted, I would not trade our life now for anything else, but it was still great to reconnect with one another.
We had some great food while we were there. I had an awesome Banana Split Martini. Raj, being the responsible one, had decaf coffee. We also had chocolate fondue and a Chocolate Maze. The Chocolate Maze was our favorite. It is a funnel cake with chocolate sauce, powdered sugar, and vanilla ice cream. YUMMY!!! I can’t wait to go back and try some different drinks and deserts!
Raj and I got to talk for one hour. Granted, we talked mostly about the babies, but we still talked. We also spent a decent amount of time being quiet and just enjoying one another too. We know that maintaining our relationship is of the utmost importance, so it was nice to be out alone together. It is so nice to still be so in love after the stressors (good and bad) we have had in the past year. Married life still is so wonderful!
We also want to send a huge thanks out to my mom. We were able to go out tonight because of her. We were able to get the babies to bed and asleep, then mom came over while we went out. It was so wonderful to get out for one hour and not worry about the babies. Thanks mom. We love you! I can’t wait until our next night out!!
I love you all.

Well Child Appointment Update
Yesterday, I took the babies for their four month check-up and some shots. It was overall a great appointment. Now that we are seeing Nancy, a PA-C, not a doctor, the appointments are going so much better. I am really getting my questions answered, and each baby is getting some great personal attention. So, here we go.
Evie
WEIGHT 12# 14oz which puts her in the 25th percentile
LENGTH 23 7/8 inches which puts her in the 50th percentile
HEAD 15 1/2 inches which puts her in the 10th percentile
Maggie
WEIGHT 12# 11oz which puts her in the 25th percentile
LENGTH 23 3/4 inches which puts her in the 25th percentile
HEAD 15 7/8 inches which puts her in the 25th percentile
Josh
WEIGHT 14# 13oz which puts him in the 50th percentile
LENGTH 23 7/8 inches which puts him in the 10th percentile
HEAD 16 3/8 inches which puts him in the 25th percentile
Disclaimer: Josh is on the boy’s chart. That is why he and Evie can be the same lenth and in different percentiles!!!! Mr. Josh is a sort man right now!!! He says that is better for being a lineman antway!!
Developmentally, Josh and Evie are doing great! They are almost right on target. Maggie is still a little behind secondary to the incident and hospitalization. However, she has come leaps and bounds from where she was. We are still going to get her some physical therapy to catch her up. She has to be able to hold her own with the other wild ones!!! All in all, I am really pleased!! My babies are almost growing too fast for me! It really all is a miracle!
I love you all.

Broken Toe and Fun Triplet Pictures
We have had a wonderful day today! Raj and I enjoyed our time with the babies tonight so much. The only little kink in the day is me breaking my toe…most likely. I DO NOT recommend ramming your toe into a fixed object. It hurts! Otherwise, the day was great. We made it to church this morning. We even took the kiddos! Afterwards, Aaji and Aaja came over for lunch! It was great. Happy (late) Birthday Aaji! Raj and I played with the babies tonight, then they got baths and were put in bed. I am going to write an entire post about “the duck”, but I want to send a huge thanks to Jen for telling me about it. It has been the best buy EVER!!! Okay, okay here are some fun pictures from a fantastic day!!
First, my poor toe…
Now, fun baby pictures!!!!!
Isn’t this the best thing in the world? I think so!
I love you all.

Suwanee Day
Today is Suwanee Day! It has been a ton of fun!! The weather could not have been more perfect. Joy and I went for a long run way too early this morning. Then, when we got back to her house, she loaned me two strollers. Raj and I really wanted to enjoy our time out of the house, and we did not want all of the “triplet” questions. I know that sounds bad, but we just wanted to get out and have some fun. We did not want to discuss whether they are identical (no), if we did IVF (no), if multiples run in our family (sort of), or any of the “I’m so sorry” comments. So, we borrowed Joy’s double jog stroller and one of her single strollers. It was SO wonderful. I think the babies enjoyed being in a stroller but not in their carseats the way the triple decker stroller is set up. Raj and I both enjoyed pushing the strollers, too.
I had forgotten how loud a parade is. I have never looked at a parade through the eyes of a parent. Poor Maggie. Her little bottom lip stuck out so far as the drumline marched past us. Josh was not too thrilled with the Harley Davidson Motorcycles revving their engines. I think Evie was amazed there were noises louder than her in this world! None of them ever cried though. I think they were trying to process everything they saw, smelled, felt, and heard. I actually think they enjoyed it all. We even joined the parade for the last 30 seconds! It was fun to walk with everyone from Office Creations!
After the parade, we walked to Town Center Park, where the festival was. I ran into a patient I delivered almost two years ago! That was great fun. I also ran into another triplet mommy! It was so fun to see her. We are planning on getting together soon. The babies loved exploring this new world! Josh had a blast when I laid him on the ground (on a blanket!) while we were eating. The girls also loved every minute of it! I am a little bummed we didn’t get to stay longer, but we still enjoyed every minute out of the house.
When we got home, the babies slept for 6-8 hours straight! Raj slept for 6.5 hours himself! It was a wonderful day! We can’t wait until next year when the babies love it even more. The only sad thing is that my memory card in the camera fried, so I only have a couple of pictures from Raj’s phone.
I love you all.

The Best Toy Ever
My girls, more than Josh, have a fantastic toy! I never knew an Elmo balloon I bought for Maggie while she was in the hospital, would be such a hit. I can’t believe Elmo is still with us!! This ballon is still floating! Raj tried to leave him at the hospital when we took Maggie home, and I wouldn’t let him. I liked the balloon too much! Plus, I knew Maggie had enjoyed looking at him. Well, Evie loved Elmo instantly. She and Maggie will happily watch Elmo for hours at a time. I have told Raj when Elmo stops floating, we are going to buy another balloon. I do recommend a mylar balloon (not latex) for anyone who has young children….they are much safer. Elmo seems to be a hit!
I love you all.
